How to increase Virtual Machine disk space on a XenServer via XenCenter?

I thought to post this simple task, because I came across to teach it for a fresh Citrix admin how to do it.

This is a simple task via GUI, but not so automatic as in e.g. VMware vCenter. Basically, you have to finish expand new size of disk via Windows Disk Management. Before you begin you should always take a snapshot of your virtual machine.

Applicable products: Windows Server 2008 R2, XenCenter 6.2

<Click pictures to zoom full details>

1. Shutdown virtual machine

2. Take a snapshot

3. In XenCenter choose virtual machine which disk need to be increased -> Storage -> Properties -> Size and location

 001

4. Set new size of disk

5. Start virtual machine

6. Log in and choose Computer -> Right click -> Choose Manage -> Disk Management -> Storage

002

7. Right click on the disk you want to extend, and select Extend

 003

8. Click Next

004

9. Click Next

005

10. Click Finish

006

11. And you’re done!
